Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the recent arrest of a Maryland man on a DWI charge.

On May 11, 2012 at 12:20 a.m., Deputy Sheriff Frederick Mark stopped a motorist who had committed traffic violations on Route 6 in the Town of Southeast. The deputy determined that the driver, identified as Alejandro Tamayo-Vasquez, 30, of 1753 Jarrettsville Road, Jarrettsville, Maryland was intoxicated. The deputy arrested the man and charged him with Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor, after the man failed a series of standardized field sobriety tests. The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignment.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charge, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00.

On May 15, 2012 at 3:18 a. m., Deputy Sheriff Frederick Mark stopped a motorist who had committed traffic violations on Route 52 in the Town of Carmel. The deputy determined that the driver, identified as Mark A. Stevenson, 27, of 20 Lorne Court, Kent was intoxicated. The deputy arrested the man and charged him with Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor, after the man failed a series of standardized field sobriety tests. The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignment.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charge, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00.
